Billboard’s 11th annual Women in Music event will be held December 9th in New York City. Meghan Trainor and Maren Morris have officially been added to the list of honorees. Both of these hit artists will be performing live at the gala, which honors Madonna as 2016’s “Woman of The Year”.
Grammy winning Meghan Trainor is being recognized as this years “Chart Topper”, which is given to an artist who has notable achievements on the Billboards charts throughout the year.
“Meghan Trainor’s one-of-a-kind voice and bold personal style have propelled her to the top of the Billboard charts,” said Janice Min, president and chief creative officer of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group. “From ‘All About that Bass’ to ‘No,’ Trainor’s songs have helped make her the consummate ‘Chart Topper.’
Morris is a hit country star and will be recognized as this years “Breakthrough Artist” for emerging as a leading voice in this past year. “Maren Morris has dominated this year, easily becoming one of the most talked-about women in country music today,” Min added. “With a breakthrough nothing short of incredible, Maren has a stellar career ahead of her that will be marked by enormous commercial and critical success.”
There will be many more women honored at this years event and other amazing performances.
