Watch Major Lazer’s “Run Up” Music Video

Major Lazer’s new track, “Run Up,” featuring Nicki Minaj and PARTYNEXTDOOR, originally released in January, just came out with a music video with a comical social commentary.

The music video features guys and girls at a rooftop party constantly with their cell phones, recording every moment, never putting them down. Whether dancing, making out on a couch, or even diving into a swimming pool, the partiers are taking selfies, texting, or simply glued to their phone screens.

While nothing profound, the video is meant to be absurd and amusing, commenting on this modern day dilemma.

In a press release, directors of the video Paul, Martin, and Luc stated, “The idea was to laugh at ourselves and at the unconditional love we bear to our smartphones. Humor and absurdity came naturally in our speech because our will was not to accuse someone or something but just exaggerate it to foster reflection.”
