Selena Gomez is now seeking professional help, after announcing at the end of August that she was going to be taking a break from the spotlight to focus on herself and her health. The 24-year-old singer cancelled the remaining 34 dates of her Revival Tour to manage her anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. In addition to her mental health struggles, the singer has been dealing with her diagnosis of lupus.
A source told Us Weekly, “She can go to a very dark place.” The insider reported that the “private and quiet” facility is outside of Nashville, and the therapy is “super intense.”
Gomez thanked her fans at the end of summer for their support and understanding about her break explaining, “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.”
Gomez is not the only singer to check herself into rehab this year – recently, 32-year-old rapper Kid Cudi admitted himself into rehab after dealing with his own anxiety and depression. It feels more and more common for stars under such an intense spotlight to face issues like these and to seek help for their mental health. It is important to admit that you are not okay. Get well soon; we’re rooting for you, Selena!
