Netflix Releases Shocking “To The Bone” Trailer

After an uproar of feelings about the controversial 13 Reasons Why, Netflix is stirring up the pot again with a new film called To the Bone, which dives deep into the battle of anorexia. The Netflix original film debuted the trailer Tuesday and is already circling the social media realm. The film stars Lily Collins, who plays a 20 year-old named Ellen, that has been fighting anorexia and is sent to an unconventional rehab program for young adults. In real life, Collins has struggled with anorexia as a teenager. The role was physically and emotionally challenging due to her past, but in an article with Refinery29, Collins explained that it was incredibly rewarding as well.

This dark comedy was created by director Marti Noxon, who used her own experience to inspire this film. “Because of my own long battle with eating disorders, I’d always wanted to write a film that dealt with the topic from an insider’s perspective,” said Noxon in an article with news.com.au. To the Bone will be available on Netflix starting July 14 and hopes to reach the audience of young people struggling with similar issues and create conversation among everyone.
