In 2016, Mattel released several different Barbie shapes and sizes in 2016 and received loads of positive feedback. Now it’s Ken’s turn to shine as the company gives Barbie’s boyfriend some new, diverse looks.
More than 50 years after the original Ken was released, contemporary Ken will be made in three body types: broad, slim, and original. He will also come in several eye colors, skin tones, and hairstyles and be fitted with trendy clothing and accessories. Black glasses, bright bro tanks, and skinny ties are just some of the fashionware Ken will be sporting.
“By continuing to expand our product line, we are redefining what a Barbie or Ken doll looks like to this generation,” said Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Barbie. “Evolving Ken was a natural evolution for the brand and allows girls to further personalize the role they want him to play in Barbie’s world.”
Ten of the 15 new Ken dolls are already in stores, and Mattel said the rest will be available by Christmas.
