The 59th Grammy Awards delivered Maren Morris’ first ever Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance for her 2016 hit single “My Church,” from her album Hero.
Morris was up against seasoned country artists such as Keith Urban with “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” Carrie Underwood with “Church Bells,” and Miranda Lambert with “Vice.”
“Oh my goodness, this is so crazy. Thank you to the Recording Academy,” said Morris. “Eleven years ago I went to the first ever Grammy camp. It was the first ever time I flew on a plane by myself. Thank you for giving me the most incredible year in my life.”
Morris also gave a shoutout to her fans, saying, “Thank you guys so much, this is amazing. And the fans, thank you for giving me the most incredible year of my life.”
Alicia Keys, who is no stranger to the Grammys, sang on stage with Morris to Morris’s “Once,” the first time she sang it on TV, definitely making it a memorable night for Morris.
