Kygo & Selena Gomez’s New Song References Mysterious Ex Lover

After weeks of teasing fans with clips of their collaboration on social media, Kygo and Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me” was released for the world to hear on Feb. 16.

With her soft, haunting voice mixed with Kygo’s well-known tropical snapping bass drops and floating melody, Gomez reminisces on love gone wrong.

No…before you think that…we don’t see any fingers pointing at her long time fling with Justin Bieber. In fact, the lyrics seem to take her back to a teenage romance.

“I had a dream
We were back to seventeen
Summer nights and the liberties
Never growing up
I’ll take with me
The polaroids and the memories
But you know I’m gonna leave
Behind the worst of us”

With other directed words relating this mystery man to problems with alcohol and waking up to drive him home when he’s drunk, we can’t say that it reminds us of anyone particular.

Regardless of who or what the song is about, we are glad to have Selena back doing what she loves after struggling personally for a while, and we have another blissful Kygo colab to jam out to in the car with the windows down.
