Kendrick Lamar Releases Video for “DNA.” Starring Don Cheadle

Kendrick Lamar is everywhere right now in the world of hip hop and for good reason. His newly released album Damn. is heading for it’s third straight week as No. 1 on Billboard 200. Now he has just released is new music video for one of the single from the album “DNA.” It was just released and is close to a million views in only a few hours.

Kendrick brought an A-list actor to help him out for this one in Don Cheadle. Cheadle seems to play a cop while Kendrick is about to be interrogated and you here about police brutality. You expect to see Kendrick start rapping next, but instead of Kendrick its Don Cheadle who starts to lip sync to the lyrics and you know what he does a pretty good job and does a nice impression of Kendrick. Check it out yourself.

It seems Kendrick can’t do wrong with his latest album and he’s a breath of fresh air for me when it comes to Hip Hop these days. Kendrick doesn’t just rap about girls, drugs, partying, the typical stuff you here. The typical Drake, Future, Fetty Wap, Pitbull songs you here all over the radio. He raps about himself and what he see around him. He tackles bigger issues like police brutality and other things. He has songs about the other radio fluff you here, but has other things to say. It’s reminiscent of the 90’s when you had Biggie, Tupac, Jay Z, and NWA taking over music and radio. It’s why he’s one of my favorite artists going today and who I would consider the best rapper to come out since the turn of the century.
