Emma Watson / Beyonce Saga Continues

By

Once upon a time, Emma Watson questioned Beyonce’s feminist credentials, saying, “On the one hand she is putting herself in a category of a feminist … but then the camera, it felt very male, such a male voyeuristic experience of her.”

Then Watson did this photo shoot for Vanity Fair:

And wow, accusations of hypocrisy started flying.

Watson reacted angrily to the criticism: “Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom. It’s about liberation. It’s about equality. It’s not — I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it.”
Then she tried to put her Beyonce comments in context, highlighting sections of the interview from several years ago, illustrating that she was conflicted about her feelings toward the Beyonce video.
But Watson was defended by feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who said feminists “can wear anything they fucking want.”
