Anticipation for new Ed Sheeran music has brought out calming yet electrifying feelings towards his future tracks. It’s been a while since Sheeran’s voice has graced our ears from the radio. Finally the singer has released new music, starting a new journey for his recently announced album Divide.
On the the charts, it appears that only hours after the singer/songwriter released two tracks off his upcoming third studio album, both hit tunes launched to the top of the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 on Friday morning!
“The first track – and the only one of the two songs that Atlantic Records is actively promoting to radio – “Shape of You,” debuted at No. 1 on the chart at 6 a.m. ET Friday, Jan. 6th, after he teased 30 seconds of the song in a Snapchat filter the day before. “Castle on the Hill,” the more pop-rock of the pair, debuted at No. 2 at the same hour Friday morning. Similar to “Shape,” Sheeran previewed the song on his social media channels Thursday. Jan. 5th.” – Billboard
Both tracks are slated to appear on his latest album ÷, pronounced “divide.” Ed has yet to announce a release date for the album, BUT he has performed his FIRST EVER live performance of “Castle on the Hill” on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show!
