More Life is Drake’s biggest, most ambitious project in years! Of course that’s because it features Kanye, Young Thug, Sampha, Quavo, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz, Black Coffee, Jorja Smith, and PartyNextDoor.
The newest innovation on More Life marks a culmination of Drake’s interest in grime, with features from Skepta and Giggs in addition to Drizzy’s own roadman slang. The dominant innovation, however, is Drake’s continuing obsession with dancehall, which inspired not only the album’s title but also its most delightful track, “Passionfruit.” – The Ringer
At the 59th Grammy Awards, “Hotline Bling” won Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance, which Drake didn’t even attend. He spoke about his wins, saying, “I’m apparently a rapper, even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song,” he told DJ Semtex in a video interview for BBC Radio 1Xtra. He went on, “The only category that they can manage to fit me in is in a rap category, maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black.”
More Life is a welcoming album title, as promised. With every piano riff, you can be sure to find an upbeat tune to get back with the music’s enthusiasm.
