DMX Struggles At Ruff Ryderz Reunion Concert

Brooklyn’s Barclays Center hosted on Friday night the Ruff Ryderz Reunion Concert in celebration of the group’s twentieth anniversary.

The show featured sets from Swizz Beatz, Cassidy, The Lox, Eve, and Drag-on, leading up to headliner and Ruff Ryderz frontman DMX, who was set to perform classic cuts like “Party Up,” “What’s My Name,” and “Slippin’.”

Unfortunately, long-time fans of the Yonkers native were disappointed by his performance.

X’s set was less than coherent; he had a difficult time making it through a song without erupting into spastic, unintelligible bursts of mumbling and yelling. He interrupted the show multiple times to rant about his personal demons, and once to sing Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight.”

DMX has a known history of erratic, volatile behavior, including a number of drug-related arrests. He’s struggled before with addiction and mental stability – fans speculated that he was heavily impaired when he took the stage.
